I’m Summer Doan, a producer and director in Vietnam, specializing in narrative, documentary, and commercial projects. I’ve spent over 6 years producing and directing across commercials, documentaries, branded content, and social-first campaigns. I've worked in London, Netherlands, Singapore and Vietnam.

From 2019-2023, I created and produced original documentary series and helped build the RICE Channel TV platform, dedicated to Vietnamese non-fiction storytelling.  

 

Since 2023, I've worked on several short films and co-produced the six-episode detective mini-series Blue Season (2025), which is a finalist for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award at the Global Production Awards 2026.

For branded documentaries and commercials, I’ve worked as producer, director, and scriptwriter for Google, Amazon, TikTok, Unilever, PepsiCo, Woori Bank, Shinhan Bank, Nongshim, and Royal Enfield, as well as media outlets, including undercover documentaries for VICE and Channel News Asia. I’ve also directed social impact films for WWF Vietnam, Save the Children, and Our Better World.

​My work has been recognised with awards, including Best Documentary for Land of Opportunity at the Starling Film Festival 2023 and Viet Film Fest 2025, and the Jury Award at the Kodak Commercial Competition 2024 for my commercial Rollercoaster of Flavours (shot on 16mm).

I hold a BA in Journalism and Film Production in Vietnam and a BA and MA in Film Production in the UK. I also co-founded Caro-Journal, a published journal in Vietnam, which has released two editions.
